Management Considerations:

  • The soil profile is strongly acid throughout. Availability of some trace elements (eg. copper, molybdenum) may be low as a result. Aluminium toxicity can also be a problem in strongly acid soils. The levels measured at this site are quite high (especially in the A11 horizon) and may restrict the growth of aluminium sensitive species.
  • The level of exchangeable cations is quite low throughout the profile (and dominated by magnesium). Some nutrient deficiencies may occur.
Notes:
  • No physical impeding layer evident to 2 metres depth.
