Status:

Native to South Australia, New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.

Plant Description:

Perennial subshrub or small shrub with slender, often scrambling stems. Leaves divided into two linear to terete (circular to squarish in cross-section) leaflets of 2-15 mm long.

Flowers are golden-yellow to orange-yellow and of 4 petals, 7-12 mm long. Fruit is a 4-winged capsule, containing 1 seed in each cell.

Habitat:

Scattered on sandy and stony soils, often near salt lakes and clay pans in the Mallee.

Comments:

Similar to
Coast Twin-leaf (Zygophyllum billardierei) which differs in its flattened leaflets and non-scrambling habit.
