Status

Native throughout Australia.

Plant Description:

Erect, annual herb to 45 cm high, branching from the base. Greyish white and woolly covering. Basal leaves withering early. Stem leaves oblanceolate (backward pointing spear-shaped) to linear and up to 5 cm long and 5 mm wide.


Flower-heads many, ovoid in shape to 4 mm long. Outer bracts are shiny yellow, flowers yellow. Fruit an achene, 0.6 mm long, brown and hairy with a pappus 3 mm long.

Habitat:

Widespread throughout Victoria in a range of vegetation communities. Usually indicative of freshwater environments but may grow on the fringes of salt lakes and swamps.
