2.2.11.3 - Farm Effluent Management

Return to Main Menu | Return to Step 2 | Return to Step 2.2.11 | Next Step

With the continuous increase in dairy herd size, the total amount of waste generated in the dairy is increasing. The disposal of effluent and the possibility of nutrients and bacteria entering soils, pastures, ground water and watercourses are of great concern to the community. Farmers have a responsibility to contain farm wastes within the farm boundary.

To choose the best method of waste management for your farm you may require expert technical assistance. A series of Agnotes on farm waste management is available to assist you in this process. Contact the DPI Customer Service Centre for further information.

Agnotes relating to Farm Waste Management available on the Department of Primary Industries website.
