The Bet Bet targeted salinity project was a joint project with the Bet Bet (Lexton) community, the former Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE), the former Department of Primary Industries (DPI), and the North Central Catchment Management Authority (NCCMA). The project aimed to control salt by minimising salt wash-off and reduce groundwater recharge. To do this requires an understanding of the hydrogeological processes that cause dryland salinity. The key feature of this project was the monitoring of groundwater levels, stream quality, saline discharge and land use change.
