General Land Unit Description:
The gently undulating rises around Lake Keilambete, near Terang, consist of Ferric Black Chromosols. Sunflowers are successfully grown in this unit. There may be minor occurrences of friable Black Chromosols on the higher portions of the maar rim.

Soil Profile Morphology

A1	0-15 cm	Very dark brown (10YR2/2) clay loam, weak structure, firm consistence when dry, pH 5.4. Gradual transition to:
A2	15-50 cm	Brown clay loam, sporadically bleached (10YR7/2) when dry. Sharp transition to:
	Subsoil
B21	59-65+ cm	Very dark greyish brown (10YR3/2) medium heavy clay, yellowish brown mottles are common, moderate blocky structure (10-20 mm), pH 6.0.
