General Land Unit Description:
The gently undulating basalt plains in the Panmure area consist of an association of Black and Brown Chromosols. There are minor occurrences of friable Mottled Black Chromosols and Black Vertosols.

Soil Profile Morphology

A1	0-15 cm	Very dark greyish brown (10YR3/2) clay loam, hard setting surface, apedal, firm consistence when dry, pH 5.4. Clear transition to:
A2	15-25 cm	Sporadically bleached (10YR7/2) when dry, clay loam, weak consistence when dry. Sharp transition to:
	Subsoil
B21	25-55 cm	Very dark grey (10YR3/1) heavy clay, strong blocky structure (10-20 mm), ferromangainferous nodules are common, pH 6.2. Gradual transition to:
B22	55+ cm	Dark greyish brown (10YR4/2) heavy clay, blocky structure, many coarse fragments (200-600 mm), pH 6.7.
