Location:

746983. Just east of Mt Tambo Track crossing of Tambo River.

Abstract:

Unconformable contact between Snowy River Volcanics and Thokidaan Volcanics.

Access:

Mt Tambo Track.

Ownership:

Crown land.

Geology:

The basal purple conglomerate of the Snowy River Volcanics overlies a palaeozoology of clay which grades through yellow silt and clay with weathered volcanic fragments, to fresh green foliated rhyodacite of the Thorkidaan Group.

Significance:

Regional. The relationship between the Snowy River Volcanics and the Thorkidaan Volcanics is clearly displayed at this site.

Management:

Any land use which would obscure the exposure should be prohibited.
