Brumby Hill. Conglomerate of the Tawonga Sandstone.

Abstract:

Exposures of a conglomerate lens in Tawonga Sandstone.

Access:

Nunniong Road.

Ownership:

Crown land.

Geology:

Cliffs, exposing up to 20 m of conglomerate, occur on the southern aspect of Brumby Hill. The conglomerate clasts are predominantly comprised of quartzite and quartz sandstone with minor vein quartz and chert clasts.

Significance:

Local. This site provides an easily accessible exposure of the conglomerates included in the Tawonga Sandstone.

Management:

Removal of the cliffed exposures through large scale extraction of materials for road construction would degrade the value of the site. However, limited quarrying may provide new exposures and would then enhance the significance of the site.
